The Heaven's Gate people were idiots who removed themselves from the gene pool. But the in the other case with the Branch Dividians, the government just cracked down on and killed a bunch of weirdos. They were just minding their own business and for some reason the US gov felt the need to attack them. Later on after the event I heard that the original tip that brought us there in the first place turned out to be false. We were just looking for some reason, any reason, to get rid of those people. I saw some footage of that event when the lawsuits were going on and you could see us shooting into the entrance when the people were trying to escape from the burning building.
